Learn how to improve your website performance with a complete website analysis

Are you getting the results you expect and need from your website?

It may be time to perform a quick checkup on your website and make sure it isn’t driving away your clients instead of reeling them in! Your website is often the first impression your audience has of your business – make sure it’s a good one.

Use this 5 Point Website Checklist to get an idea of what might be preventing website visitors from working with you. There are many design, technical and copy-related issues that could be working against you, but these are the 5 most common website issues that small business owners face.

1. Outdated or unprofessional looking website (or no website at all!)

If your website is outdated or does not look professional, it may be preventing possible clients from working with you. If your blog is inactive and outdated it may give the impression that your business is also inactive or that you have nothing new to offer. 81% of shoppers research online before buying – if you don’t have a website you are missing out on a lot of potential clients.

2. Does not work on mobile devices

Over 50% of all website searches start on a mobile device. Can your audience easily view and use your website from their phone or tablet? If they can’t, they will move on to someone else’s website.

3. No clear goals or purpose for the website

You built a website because you know you’re supposed to have one, but you’re not sure why. If you don’t have a clear plan for how your website fits in with your marketing, it won’t be as effective for you. Do you know what action you want your visitors to take on your website? Do they know what you want them to do?

4. Confusing layout or content

Do you have too much information on your website? Too little? Does the structure of each page make sense? Your audience may be confused on exactly what it is you can do for them, or how to find the information they need. A confused user is a lost potential client.

5. Long page load times

Nearly half of all web users expect a web page to load in less than 2 seconds. 40% will leave if it takes more than 3 seconds to load. Every second of delay causes a 7% drop in conversions. How long does your website take to load?

How well did your website do with the 5 Point Checklist?

Did you check off one or more points on the list? You’re not alone! More than 80% of small business websites fail to produce a return-on-investment for their owners. If your website is not performing well, it is definitely time to review what’s working and what’s not and start making adjustments to get the most out of your investment!
