Summer is in full swing and we are loving it!
Ah, summer…. we enjoy this weather for such a short time, why not make the most of it? Long days, hot weather, sandy beaches, refreshing lakes and pools, tons of festivals and events, plus the kids are out of school. It’s the perfect recipe for relaxation, vacations and FUN. Right?!
This time of year we are also enjoying our vegetable garden. It’s an effort that starts off in early spring and really starts paying off in July and August as the tomatoes and cucumbers are in full force. There’s nothing like eating a freshly picked tomato out of the garden!
We’re hoping to get a bumper crop like last year!
The summer is also a great time to evaluate our business plans and see if we are on track to meet our goals for the year, making adjustments as necessary. Since the summer is a slower season and I am not at Niagara College (I teach part time from September to April), we have more time to work on our business and develop new projects.
Supporting business owners with education and training
You may have noticed over the last few months that we’ve been adding to the services that we offer.
The trend towards DIY websites combined with limited budgets and the wide availability of online tools means many business owners are building and maintaining their own websites and creating their own marketing materials.
In talking with our own clients along with other business owners both in our local community and online, we have observed that there is a need for more education and training around website maintenance, branding and creating effective marketing materials for small business owners.
One of our goals this year has been to support small business owners through workshops, resources and training on subjects like SEO, WordPress, Canva, Google Analytics, branding and general website maintenance.
In the past month I held two free online workshops; one on SEO for images, and one on designing with Canva. Both workshops were well received and I look forward to creating more workshops and tutorials over the next few months to share with you!

This year we will also be launching our first series of eCourses for business owners who want to upgrade their websites.
This course is being developed for the DIY website builder and business owner who maintains their own website. Students will work through a series of self-paced modules and lessons focused on helping them to improve their SEO, create an effective brand and design their websites with their clients and goals in mind for a better return on their investment.
